Its blood. Your own blood. I assume you dont flush bandaids? or gauze from wrapping a finger cut? That is some self-hating shi% youve got going on if thats your reaction to menstrual blood. Theres a liner in the trash can that get taken out twice weekly. My pads go in there too.

Cannot believe there are grown adult women out there flushing tampons! You all are either lazy or morons.

I've always wondered why bathrooms had signs not to flush tampons, since I thought it was common knowledge not to do that. It's like saying don't flush the empty toilet paper roll down the toilet. But I guess there are a fair amount of women out there that don't know any better. Wow.

I remember that the cardboard applicators were marketed as flushable, but it seems to me that there was caveat not to flush the tampon itself.

I remember as a teenager in the 80s that we all flushed our tampons! I recall one brand being marketed as “flushable” (maybe even the applicator) bit certainly the tissue paper wrapper.

OB tampons were the first non applicator tampon and I know I flushed those.

In the 80s and well into the 90s, we were flushing everything down the toilets; condoms, tampons, medicines

Nope, don’t flush tampons. Wrap thoroughly. Using a cup also helps with this issue, nothing to flush.

I grew up believing you could flush them, but now I know better. Once or twice a particularly nasty one has fallen in the bowl in the middle of the night, so I wasn’t going to fish it out, but in general I follow the rule. I keep some newspaper bags in my bathroom and I tie off the used ones in there so there’s no smell or seepage. How light are your periods for those who just say “wrap them in a couple of squares of toilet paper?” If your periods are that light, you don’t need tampons.

No of course not. Only human waste and toilet paper should go in the toilet. Train your dogs not to touch garbage cans. I’ve had two dogs and both were trained, no problem.
