I think 3 is way easier.

If you are ready for another now, just start trying and see what happens. It's not like you have exact control over when you get pregnant.

Mine are 3.5 years apart. I think it's hard either way. I was happy that my oldest was reliably potty trained and could communicate her needs to us when the baby came. They are now 1 and 4.5. They play together a little.

Ours are 3.5 years apart, girls. My older dd is very mature for her age so having this age gap was much easier I think because she was able to be more independent. And that’s not only helpful when the baby is an infant but even continues to be true. Our baby is now 15 months and older dd turning 5 in a couple months and the little one is at the beginning of the toddler age where you have to constantly be on her so she doesn’t get hurt or get into something. With my other daughter being older, she doesn’t need that which allows me to focus on the baby who is so needy now. The down side is that their age difference now makes it so that my older daughter isn’t interested in playing with the toddler. It would be nice if they could entertain each other. Maybe that will change once they are a bit older and the first isn’t a baby.
