I swear some posters (or the same poster over and over again) keep portraying Frederick as something it is not. The city itself is staunchly blue.
And I'm puzzled by the implication that somehow a crowd of white people can't be diverse. They could come from all sorts of backgrounds and beliefs and ethnicities.

I am white, my husband is black. we go to downtown silver spring, predominantly black and bethesda, predominantly white fairly often.
Whether or not the area is diverse doesnt away or deter us.
it gets tiring that everything has to be about race.

Lots of white people.
Would absolutely have this response if someone asked about living there (although, I know, it is changing). But to visit for a weekend? That’s fine. I visit places in the Deep South and have a great time there. But I would never raise my kids there. Not to mention Frederick is so close to DC, people are used to plenty of diversity and you would be fine there.
Have fun!

No. It’s super liberal actually.
still mostly whites. Rich white DC tourists.

The current spot is the Cellar Door on weekends. Probably 60% black and they play music that caters to that crowd. As for the rest of the downtown scene, I wouldn't call it whiter than any other place. No, it's not Baltimore or DC but Google the demographics of Frederick.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Old confederate like city

I've a feeling you and the pp have never been to Frederick.
It was a staunchly Unionist city during the Civil War. Yes, it was also home to Justice Taney, but that's complicated American history for you.
And it's also rapidly diversifying these days. A significant Latino presence and central Frederick also has an AA population.
Dp. I’m AA and been to downtown Frederick several times. All I typically see are white people. I wouldn’t call it diverse.
