It's true. Plenty of nannies only have a hs education.

The townhouse is smaller than the house we live in, so not a lot of space inside or out. No field trips. No fence. No further education than an associates degree. How much money do you think you would get? It all just seems so pointless, honestly. Unattractive for you and the families.

OP here. Uh, okay. Most daycare teachers only have an AA. A large number of nannies aren't college educated.

Ignore this pp.

Yeah not all of us can afford a nanny for one kid. So thankful for our in-home daycare and the family atmosphere we have benefitted from.

OP here. Right, I am a former nanny. I had no issues finding positions with my AA. I worked for doctors, Harvard educated, secret service families, judges, professors, and lawyers. They liked me. I communicated well with them, and they treated me like an equal. Some of the best nannies I have met have been foreign and had no further education after high school. There are so many things that factor into being good with young children. Honestly, being a native English speaker has been a massive plus in this area. Parents are happy that they could communicate with me. They would probably consider me without the AA based on my written and verbal skills, Lol

OP here. Yes, I posted in the nanny forum. I'm not sure why you think I am a troll. I posted there first but found the one later. I thought I would get responses from parents who use daycare instead of nannies. I met the neighbor just a few days ago. This all happened so fast. I'm still interested in advice because this position won't last forever.

Don’t do sketchy stuff.

OP here. It doesn't seem sketchy. There's a nurse a few houses down that has a toddler. She works two days a week. I could bring my child. A neighbor introduced us. Her nanny was vaping at her house! She's been fired.

What are you going to do with your kindergarten during long holiday breaks, random teacher work days off from school, when he's sick, 10-day long covid class quarantine, 3 months of summer....is he going to slouch around bored-to-death upstairs bc you're too obsessed with this home daycare business on the downstairs basement to do anything with him?

Not necessarily. Even if it's illegal, they can get the court to side with them. We need daycares now more than ever.

The court is going to condone illegal activities?

She meant illegal for the hoa. Not an illegal license.

The pay isn't as low as you assume.

You can enroll your own 2 yr old at a discount rate, and you'd be home in time for your kindergartener to get off the bus at 3 pm.

You're overly ambitious with this daycare, babysitter, mom's day out, whatever you want to call it -type fiasco. The upfront cost and time, and logistics don't make it worth it.

Because it's just not worth it, I looked into this. Now, if I could find a lead teacher job that could have me home by 3, I would do that! Even with the discount, his tuition is a lot. There were a few I looked into, and I would maybe bring home an extra $500. Would you leave your house for that?
