I adopted a cat named Claudia once.

Now we have a dog named coffee.

If you adopt, they come with names they know.

You realize there are people with the name Fifi, Princess, and Rebel, don’t you? There’s a girl in my current neighborhood with one of those names.

That said, my DD has a somewhat cutesy childhood nickname, and an acquaintance of mine, upon hearing it for the first time, laughed really, really hard and then told me that was their dog’s name when she was a kid and went in to explain how the dog had been really annoying with this aggressive bark and they were relieved when she died.

That was insulting. Don’t do that.

I have a Lucy and don’t care at all.

My dog has the same name as my friend's child-- completely by accident, obviously. We both think it's funny, and the name suits both the dog and the child.

When I was young my family cat was named Bob.

When I was at the vet last week I noted that all the pets had human names. The once’s that I recall were Oliver, Katie, Pearl, Teddy, Stella and Alice.

My dog is Lucy. We had just gotten her when the birth announcement for my friend's new baby arrived in the mail. I thought, "Hmmm, Lucy. That's really cute!" My friend (who lives in another state) was amused.
