Yeah, I have to disagree. My son is a travel player, and a more serious futsal player than soccer player (he does futsal training during the soccer season). But what is wrong with a rec league with opponents that are equally not as invested? It is a way for kids to get out of the house, off electronics, and get some exercise? My son's best friend is very short and does Alexandria's rec futsal league - he has zero interest in basketball, for obvious reasons

Now close your eyes and envision this game with your son's best friend playing....how often is that ball just rolling out of bounds? Every other touch probably. All I'm saying is that I would pass on that. Maybe find an indoor league with walls. To me there is a certain level of technical skills that need to be met before you join onto a futsal team/league. Otherwise, the games are just a waste. Again, in my opinion and something for rec parents to think about.

According to their website PAC is hosting a winter outdoor league. Might be an alternative to futsal.

Not at all. They have the futsal ID program, which is fairly competitive, and tryouts for many age groups are already underway. But, there is also a travel division within the rec league, for players who are travel players but do not want to/did not get a spot on futsal ID. It is affordable and fun - but no practices, just one game per week.

I would say that Alexandria's Futsal ID team is the most competitive team in the area. DC Hyper as well but I haven't heard about them in a while. I'm not sure DC Hyper had teams last winter. On the flip side, I didn't even know Alexandria had a futsal "rec" league. They do keep teams together but everyone on the team does not sign up so they add in outsiders to the appropriate skill level team. I do not think the would be out of her league because the teams are sometimes mixed skill level and they understand very well the estimate level of other clubs and teams. You can make a note when she registers.
