If I'm leaving and have paid my balance what do I care about the team?

I have been a manager of a team where the coach didn't want to release a player's card (because he wanted to annoy these parents), and he asked me if we could refuse to release the card. I had already signed the paperwork to release the card to the new team (because I was happy to see these annoying parents go!).

My own thoughts are, it is not just the club that holds a card. It is also the carding organization. In this case it appeared that there was a process for the family to get the card directly from the organization, if needed (though this was not the preferred avenue). Clubs can write into contracts that they won't release cards unless the balance is paid in full, but my guess is in practice, there are other avenues for families to pursue and this clause is not really enforceable.

Wouldn’t players leaving benefit players who stay with the team? More playing time and attention? If balances are settled, isn’t that a non-factor for the finances of the club, which as a parent I could care less about. Maybe I’m missing the point.

That’s fair but it seems that the PP is claiming that bryc will withhold the card as a punitive response, even if the financial balance is settled.

They cannot hold the card if the balance is paid.

Yes - and we are talking BRYC did this 100% last year to two players. Spiteful and over kids leaving they went nuclear butt hurt.

Yikes! Is this normal behavior at other clubs? I have not seen this at our club but we are not ecnl, so maybe the stakes are higher there. Personally, I would stay away from that. Yes, it’s a commitment but it goes both ways.

Loudoun does this too.
