We are now empty nesters and we are having a great time. I’ve never wanted to have an affair and the fun we are having now just keeps me going. The look on her face if she knew I had had an affair would burn a hole in me. My brain is not in my penis.

I can golf all weekend if I want. I have a boat that I spend a whole day fishing from with my friends.

I thought my cheater really loved and cared about me but had to accept that he did not. We were having lots of sex at the time so that wasn't a factor.

If society was such that monogamy didn’t equal love/value, and more couples could be open about their feelings without the social norms, cheating might not have the same emotional weight. I wonder how many would be monogamous for choice and for how long. Personally I think what’s hurtful is the betrayal and lying. Maybe it’s like drugs, if you decriminalize it people would behave differently.

I cheated on my now wife years ago when we were dating, so not the same as an affair when married. It hurt her so badly, and it took so long for her to be able to trust me again, that I can’t ever put her through that again.

If I were ever to think about cheating, all I would have to do is to remember her face and how it looked when she found out I’d been cheating on her. I just couldn’t put her through that- plus, I know I’ve used up my chances and she’d leave me in a second if I cheated.
