In FCPS, are kids supposed to check the box about COVID grading policies for 10th and 11th grade?

Also, why is there a word limit for the personal statement on the application but not if you submit the application first and then use their website to add a statement later? So confusing.

Anyone have a sense for current turnaround times on Pitt apps?

It takes a couple days. And their portal is terrible (in my personal opinion after seeing two other ones) with no checklist. Then two weeks after submitting my.kid got a random text from Pitt saying only "type stop to unsubscribe". Then they never texted him again. So be patient.

My DC submitted to Pitt via Common App yesterday. Hasn't received any acknowledgment from Pitt. Is that normal?

They don't use the grades reported in the Common App, so you either need SRAR or official transcript. Their website says they highly recommend the SRAR. Using the transcrip will slow down the process.

Ok, thank you!

Hey all. My DC submitted their Pitt app and SRAR about 6 hours ago but hasn’t gotten any automated reply acknowledgment. They saw screens pop up that things were admitted and the app fee is on my credit card. Does this usually take time? I thought it would be quick.

PP above. Mine has a 4.0 and 1450 SATs from FCPS.

Did your kid use the Self-Reported Academic Record or official transcript? If the official transcript, they say that will take longer to process. If SRAR, I would contact admissions to make sure the application hasn't fallen throught the cracks. (Now I'm wondering if I jumped the gun. In the dashboard under the Admissions tab, the school of engineering shows up with a button to accept or decline, so I'm assuming she has been accepted. But she can't access her Pitt email to confirm.)

So an hour after I posted that he hadn't heard yet, he got an email that his portal was updated. Weirdly his Admit letter was dated two days ago but the email just was sent this morning? Anyways, whew, so happy for him! Now can cut off three schools off his application list that were below Pitt in his pecking order. Three apps in, three left to go. (BTW it wasn't engineering, it was the School of Computing. And he used the SRAR, not official transcript).
