Smoothie day was the one day we were getting, as a treat for DS.

Last year, we thought Yay Lunch was a huge step up from Fairfax Foods hot lunch offers at our private school. This year, it’s just gross, even if our kids manage to get what they ordered. Yay Lunch refunded us for several hairs in our chicken wings. We didn’t complain about the several missed extras like the Dirt Cups. And could someone please explain why my kids can’t opt out of their half ripe bananas? We’ve decided to try yay lunch for 1-2 days per kid, but my kids honestly enjoy prepared foods from Wegman’s for a lower cost (or leftovers from home). And, it’s such a shame that smoothie day disappeared. That was by far their fav!!

Our school switched to it this year and we were excited about the descriptions given at the end of the year about partnering with local restaurants and all the options, and that just hasn’t materialized in practice. DS is packing lunch now.

It's been a total let down for us. Too expensive, not very healthy, and small portions. My DD now brings her lunch.

My kid really enjoyed it last year when it was with actual restaurants...this year, it's been overwhelmingly negative with the "caterer" who is doing the yay lunches now. Small portions, no vegetables, and "mushy and cold" were the words my kid used.

They should have some veggies, like carrots with ranch or Caesar salad. It seems like it’s mainly carbs and cheese.

Our school switched to it this year and we were excited. Not anymore. It’s cold every day and very expensive. 2 bucks for a google squeeze apple sauce I think. I don’t think it will last at our school.

My middle schooler likes to order yay lunch 2-3 times a week but says the portions are kindergarten-sized. Lack of variety and cost also are not going in Yay Lunch’s favor. We only use it because it’s the only option to get some variety in apart from home lunches.

Not great. I agree with most of what's been written. Not healthy, small portions. We did it a few days a week last Spring and I realized it was about the same effort to pack extra snacks so my kid wasn't starving as it is to just pack a full lunch (and half the cost).

Our school just switched to Yay this year and we are really upset by the high cost and tiny portions. Lunch menu was changed in the middle of last week with no warning. My kid is in middle school and 2 weeks in I’ve had to start packing him lunches again because he is starving by mid-afternoon and I refuse to spend $15+ every day to fill him up.

Not a huge fan. At high school age I wish the schools would offer a salad bar and sandwich bar instead.

We've had good experiences at our school (elementary). Kids have really liked the lunches and no complaints about portion sizes thus far.

I have an US student at SSSAS and they’re using Yay Lunch because the school is under construction. My son said it’s not very good- portions are small and it’s cold. Sigh.

Last year it went ok for my kids. This year, one kid so far got a rotten banana as a side and one day the hot lunches didn't come for the kids who ordered it. The school compensated by buying pizza for the kids and with refunds, but still...seems like they're having a rough back to school.
