Theres no snowplow just pointing out the fact that playing on a grade down team makes players unrecruitable. Many parents dont realise this and trust that clubs wont screw their kid over this way. Its better to have some knowledge so you dont get into that situation.

And the club will get a reputation for forcing players to play down. Which will mean that Aug and younger players will avoid the club. Or parents will make it clear when trying out that they wont allow their kid to play on a grade down team.
Or just adopt a policy that Aug and younger players will play with their grade team. Be it A or B team.

You realize that Arlington just updated their BY to SY FAQ to address the Aug-Sept younger player issue.
They did this because its an issue and will continue to be an issue until leagues provide some type of guidance.
They updated the FAQ and added a section about Aug-Sept younger birthdays last night. They did this because they realized that its an issue.
Arlington added "School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation" seems like theyre acknowledging grade in school could be a deciding factor in which team they place players.
These still stand;
"Q: How does this affect my player if they’re born in August–December?
A: These players are most likely to shift age groups. "
"Q: Can players play up an age group?
A: Playing up is a coaching and technical decision based primarily on the player’s skill level, soccer maturity, and overall development needs. While Arlington Soccer allows flexibility in certain cases, playing up is the exception rather than the rule. Each situation is carefully evaluated by the technical staff to ensure it is in the best interest of both the individual player and the team."
Why do you lie?
Q: Can a player born between August 1 and September 30 play up if they are in the higher school grade?
A: School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation, but the decision to allow a player to play up is ultimately based on technical criteria including the player’s skill, maturity, and readiness for the older age group. Grade alone does not guarantee that a player will play up.
But then why does it say....
School grade may be considered as part of the evaluation
This is because if a player wants to play in College they need to be with thier grade even if its with a second or third team. If the players doesnt want to ball in college they can play down but it prolly will not be at the expense of a kid playing at grade on a first team. They will find themselves at a smaller club and not in the ECNL world.
Now make sure you explain to other parents how playing down a grade in club soccer screws over players looking to play in college by making them unrecruitable for college coaches.
Our club had a meeting about BY -> SY with the team managers and they tried to explain how things would go. Multiple team managers asked the same questions about playing down and rcollege ecruitment. The club didnt have an answer but said they would get back to the team managers about it shortly. They never did.
So be careful with your kids. I don't believe clubs are intentionally looking to screw players over. I just dont think they've thought through all the repercussions that playing on a grade down team involves.
It's a fair question and grade should be a factor BUT not THE factor. Arlington has it right. Grade shouldn't be a magic ticket to play up.
The opposite of that statement is that Age shouldn't be a magic ticket for playing on a grade down A team.
Players that are young and born Aug Sept can be either grade. in this situation clubs should put players on an A or B team thats their grade in school. (not a grade down team)

Stats show odds increase on chances to play in college if you are the oldest in the age group and least if you are the youngest. Clubs make these decisions and they pick age with the best of the best getting an opportunity to play up.
You should stop giving advise.

Thats rich comming from the guy that wants GY Showcases and thinks screwing over players so they're unrecruitable by college coaches are both good things.
If they follow your advice, they might also lose out because they're now the youngest in the age group.
Thats why you play on the B team with players your grade. You'll get more touches and opportunities to play different positions. Once you get to u14/u15 for girls RAE doesnt matter anymore and the oldest players in the groupings start fading out.
