Bethesda couldn't beat the #1 team in the MA (CSA). Union went on to beat CSA easily. It's weird that Bethesda would currently be considered better than Union.
VDA played Brave, BSC, and Ukrainian Nationals in WAGs. Given 2 of the 3 are being discussed here, it seems like a fair comparison. You can say it was a long time ago, but it’s a head to head result from this season. You have to draw the line somewhere, and ECNL keeps season standings for a reason.
Other head to head results from this season
- Losses to CSA by a combined 5 goals across 2 games.
- 4-0 loss to Brave in the first game. Tie in the second.
- A tie against Arlington and a 1 goal win over Union.
Didn’t VDA also lose badly to FCV in the fall? I have nothing against them, but this feels like recency bias based on a single 1 goal victory, and ignoring September through March.
"My team is better"
"No my team is better"
Who cares?!?!? last year's results won't matter next season. Union is done, they're FVU next year - anytime two teams combine the sum should be better than the parts, so FVU should be better next season. VDA will also be better next season after adding the FCV players that are coming over. Newsflash, both can be true. I imagine if they both played each other 10 times next year it will be split results.
club.. overall club performance gets u demoted and deconstructed and merged.. probably more to folloow in the carolinasAnonymous wrote:Union/Brave couldnt have been the only team underperforming. I wonder if ECNL has forced other teams in other conferences to merge. Any updates on other mergers from difference conferences? Might have to wait and when the schedules are posted for the fall.
Anonymous wrote:If Union was so great, why did ECNL revoke their league membership? Serious question.
Sometimes you have to remove yourself from the situation and just admit that the club underperformed. It is unfortunate that ECNL did this, but Union underperformed so drastically in the last few years that MYS had to completely disband the Union teams and create an entirely new entity (FVU) and invite non-Union players to join to try to compete.
It is what it is at this point, but I agree with the PP that pretending that Union was a top performing club is embarrassing when the facts are clear on this point. The Union teams, as a whole, were not competitive when compared to other ECNL teams in the area.
this is the wayAnonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:There’s no such thing as a Union 2013
Those players will all be at NVA anyways.
Anonymous wrote:lol, which is why ECNL kicked Union out of the league for sustained underperformance? Come on, hun. This isn’t hard. FVU may be okay, but let’s not pretend Union was dominant (other than 2013G, which were good.
