More sports will definitely be cut but as long as men’s Football and basketball are doing well colleges keep at least 2 women’s sports because of title 9. Also colleges will be adding their own p2p 2nd teams so be ready for that.
How embarrassing would it be to play on a college second team. Not sure there will be a market for that. There are club sports in college and those are student run many large schools have great club teams with less commitment and travel. That will be the destination. College soccer will still be an end of the road destination no matter how many rule changes they make.

BREAKING: College Soccer Gets
Full-Year Seasons & Pro Pathways!
Longer seasons, smarter regional matchups, and closer ties to pro and national programs are coming. Men's soccer will run August-April with a winter break, while women will get a new elite spring competition.
Modernized eligibility and transfer rules give players more flexibility, all aimed at healthier, more competitive, and pro-ready soccer.
I need to see the small print but seems pretty nice
Here's the thread that talks about this - none of it's guaranteed. It was all recommendations that were part of the NextGen Soccer Committee report. We'll see what sticks coming out of it.

Since colleges are now paying players. Pro teams should be paying colleges for the development of players turning pro. Do this and suddenly college soccer is self funding.
Pro teams need to get players somewhere. Paying colleges for developing talent might seem weird at first but what it will do is incentivize colleges to develop players to the highest level the way pro trams want them to be. When this occurs college teams and coaches that participate in developing to the highest level are rewarded for their efforts. What will happen is when theres money involved the end product will be a much higher level.
Now that college is paying players how long do you think it will be before the Euros start charging for their players?
Want to win in college its going to cost you.
Want to win as a pro team its going to cost you.
Now that the veil is gone college wont be able to hide. behind "amateurism" anymore.
True for football not futbol. Remeber every scholarship giving to soccer is one less for football. Also money paid to a soccer player is out of the same budget that pays football players
Brown egg football has no concept of teams paying lower level teams for developing talented players. Soccer does.
The only reason college got away with not paying for developed talent was because they werent paying players. Now that college is paying players Acadamies are going to start charging colleges for talent. You want to win? That's fine euro talent is no longer free. Oh and btw MLS is probably looking at something similar.
For the girls theres a thing called Title 9. Which guarantees they'll be around for a long time
For the boys it will be interesting. If Acadamies decide to charge college for talent the NIL money might start going to Acadamies for players.
Non revenue like Girls D1 college soccer in for big whack as football goes employee instead of scholarship. On the plus side, D3 is a better experience for almost everyone anyway.
The NCAA settlement share beyond football and basketball was about 5% so will be an interesting couple of years.

Youre arguement is 100% around NIL.
The way college players will be paid is by receiving a percentage of all the marketing and advertising revenue. This is why NCAA needed specific roster sizes for team sports. This allows them to split up the revenue accordingly.
With both mens and womens soccer what will happen with NIL is there will be 1-2 teams with all the superstars on them. Just like in football where 5-10 teams have all the superstars on them. These are the teams + players that will receive NIL money.
Look at the House decision. The amount of money for traditionally non-traditional sports will be similar to having an on-campus job. In other words, not very much. The large majority will go to football and basketball players.
This is not possible. The only thing skewing money to football and basketball is NIL.. If you take NIL out NCAA is trying to distribute revenue equitably. Also the drivers of NIL are college boosters orgs. Now that college soccer might change to something that actually matters ideally college soccer booster groups will follow.

For the girls theres a thing called Title 9. Which guarantees they'll be around for a long time
For the boys it will be interesting. If Acadamies decide to charge college for talent the NIL money might start going to Acadamies for players.

Pro football has money and they don't bother paying colleges, soccer stands no chance of having this magic cash show up. You are massively overstating it when you say colleges are paying players.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:No money to pay.
