I could have easily put VYS or FC Frederick at #10. If Arlington can get a win against NC Courage or VDA, them they go up. They need a quality win to back up it’s hype.
This is the made up ranking that is pretty accurate as of this moment till some ecnl games are played this weekend.
It isn't that accurate considering the high ranking of FCV considering the weak strength of schedule they play in GA. Bethesda deserves to be higher than FCV based on strength of schedule and winning results against the highest strength of schedule. Loudoun is even with FCV and VA Union has performed well with their second highest strength of schedule among the four teams.
47.5 Average National Ranking for Bethesda opponent.
99 Average National Ranking for Arlington opponent
168.75 Average National Ranking for VA Union opponents
299.5 Average National Ranking for FCV opponent
301.5 Average National Ranking for Loudoun opponent

3. VDA (Win over Bethesda, Loss to NC Courage and tie to Union)
4. Bethesda (Wins over Matchfit, Maryland United, and Loudoun, highest strength of schedule)
5. Arlington (Loss to Richmond, 2nd highest strength of schedule)
6. Loudoun (4-1 in ECNL Weakest strength of schedule)
7. Virginia Union (1-2-2 in ECNL play, Regulation win and tie against FCV, tie to Union as well as higher strength of schedule)
8. FCV (Win and Loss to Virginia Union 4th weakest strength of schedule and split results against Union)
9. Metro United (Loss to FCV, tie to Skyline)
10. Maryland United (Losses to VYS, Bethesda, and tie to FC Delco, lost to Pipeline 5-1)
Both of these are better than the above post. Everyone has an opinion however. I would sub out out VYS with Metro, and that is about it. Bethesda and Arlington are a toss up but both are likely better than Arlington. FCV and Union are a toss up as well. Metro is behind both VYS and Maryland United. No way they could beat either of those teams. Everyone also seems to forget about FC Frederick.
All those Maryland teams are counterfeit. Pipeline? Lol no. BSC beating Loudoun and Maryland United means nothing. Those three teams are in that bunch of like 7-8 teams that will beat each other but never beat the top teams. Actually Maryland United is is borderline and should not be included.
The thing is the top 1 or 2 teams are just in a different league vs the rest of the group. There is little difference between the teams in the rest of the group. Team A will beat team B who will beat team C who will beat team A just depending on the day.
VYS, Maryland United and FC Frederick are clearly below the "rest of the group".
I would say that VYS, MD united and Frederick would compete with any of the 4-10 list. Vys posses the ball well, Frederick defends well and MD united has good athletes that can score.
VYS lost to Arlington red 0-2. That is Arlington’s second team. So no.
VYS tied Arlington's first team 3-3 and beat Maryland United so they have already demonstrated that they are competitive in head to head games.
No not this year. That was Arlington’s tournament last year. I think Arlington GA lost to another team in that one and did not make it out of the bracket? This is this year. Arlington Red is not a strong team and a 2-0 lost to them moves you out of the list. Playing CCL or ECNL-r really hurts you if you are a decent team. The level of competition is just not there. When you get to a tournament your players are just not ready. Frederick beat BSC and Maryland United not very strong teams either. It does not really matter. You have the top 2-3 teams and everyone else. If you but VYS and Frederick in the mix of teams below that you have to put Metro in there also.
I guess the question marks are Arlington ECNL and Union. Do they move up to the top team category? Arlington does not seem to get marketable better over the season. The club seems to peak early and level off later as the season progresses. Other teams catch up and past them in the spring. Union is basically a new team and it will take time for them to come together as a team. We know the SYC players are pretty good but they are coming from the CCL. It will take to the spring to get a good read on them.
No Union isn't the next VDA and neither is Arlington keep dreaming
Who said Union or Arlington was the next VDA? Pretty defensive though, it makes one wonder just how that tie game actually went.
Union already tied VDA. They will get better as the season progresses and new players learn the tactical system and get fully integrated in the team. VDA parent is defensive because VDA is on downward trajectory.
You realize it was a tie? Union didn’t win the game.
You realize McLean/Union won 2 games all last season and have already beaten FCV as well as tied VDA. It sounds like one team has improved.
I will add that the person you responded to has severe reading comprehension problems. In response to the post that starts with "Union already tied VDA," the poster responds "You realize it was a tie? Union didn't win the game."
Because Union parents are acting like they beat VDA and won the MA division.
DP you know Union is a totally new team? There are only like 7-8 players from last years team. So as someone who has no connection to Union I would say it’s a good early result. Though there is no way that team is playing anywhere close to their potential. I do not know if these are Union parents posting here but you seem very sensitive.

Agreed- but that was last year, for what its worth. You can look at FC Frederick and see they also beat MD United and BSC ECNL 2 times last year. All those teams may or may not have lost players this year or added some as well. VYS- has 2 losses in RL but they are to Beach and Richmond- 2 of the best teams in the RL Virginia this year.

1. Richmond
2. Pipeline

MD United is better than how they have started out this year.
The lower competition that VYS and Frederick face will begin to take its toll. They will slowly lose players to GA and ECNL, even if it is just one or two that is enough considering their level of competition.
There may be some unique circumstances as to why those teams have stuck together so long but it is only a matter of time before their players get poached.
I agree that its any given day with all of these teams below your #1-3 or so. This comment drives home the point as to why this is relevant though. Is it really the case that a VYS or Frederick player, for example, is going to migrate to ECNL or GA over the next few years? If some of these ECNL or GA teams really start to differentiate themselves, then the move could be worth it under certain circumstances. Talent around the DMV is very spread out though, travel schedules for ECNL and GA can be brutal, and if players haven't moved yet I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that they will. If team B can hang with team A and even win 35-40 percent of the time, is a move worth it? What if they can win 50 percent of the time?
but but but what about my deep ECNL and GA pockets??? we got pay our admin and coaches $$$$ We need to recruit these kids and make their families drive all over the east coast to play a team just as good in our backyard. Please dont let this secret out!!! SHHHHHH
