Always hard to tell with Trump. My guess is he views the $2000 as a national bribe to help him stay in office. Absurd, I know, but extreme narcissists think that way.

Manipulating the markets.

I said I hated Trump earlier today - still do. However 1 week loss of benefits (some states might still honor the PUA/PEUC anyway) is acceptable compared to Pelosi' holdout from August - November where the unemployed 'lost' over 16 weeks.
He managed to get this in and if he gets the $2K on top of that (highly doubtful) he won.

He himself was the holdout, but I guess he won because people like you think he had no part in it.
No, I am very well aware that he screwed over the country, delayed unemployment, almost shutdown the government, and made Christmas miserable for some of the Americans with the most desperate of circumstances.
What I am saying is that it was never a consideration for $2K stimulus checks - the Republicans (specifically the Tea Party nuts) and McConnell wouldn't allow it. The Democrats didn't even raise the prospect after early summer.
The fact that a Republican president not only raised it but potentially got McConnell to support it is something that the Democrats haven't been able to do in 9 months of argument for substantially lower checks.
It is what it is. I feel that Trump is a merciless bastard and he really only wanted to get his Election Fraud claims before Congress but if it worked - then he and he alone just got adult tax-filing Americans an extra $1,400.
Where did you get the impression McConnell supports it? Certainly no vote mentioned in McConnell’s release. He got Mancy to vote on something she already brought to a vote next week. There is no indication McConnell will bring it to a vote, let alone whip the votes.
