Dog whistles? Pat Hynes and Janie Strauss were blowing bull horns. Loud and clear. They just did not realize that they were being heard outside their little cabal.

Elaine will be fine socially. I don't know a single person who dislikes her. We don't think she is suited for this particular position, but since we know she doesn't even want it, no one feels bad voting for someone else.

It’s actually not even close. Tholen has been a MS and HS teacher, has lived in the county for 25 years, and has worked in lower-income schools in FCPS for years in connection with the Get2Green program. And on the issue that actually drew her opponents into the race - boundaries - she has been a refreshing voice of common sense, for example:

I see that as preferable to someone who waltzes into the county, pretends to be focused on the needs of the less fortunate, and yet consistently denigrates, without bothering to try and understand, a county-wide policy that does commit the Board of Supervisors and School Board to considering the impact of their decisions on those who are less privileged.

Mobasheri lives very close to Herndon and has canvassed there a lot.

Except that the reason he got in the race is because he does not want his children to go to school with the students at Herndon. I don’t know how he can win any votes there.

Anyone can tell that the most grasping and negative comments during the campaign have come from the Karloutsos camp.

It’s not really a surprise that someone from Philly would attack her main opponent as too refined and genteel for the job. No one will accuse Karloutsos of those faults, that’s for sure.

Trying to attack Karloutsos for starting an organization to help low income kids in high school is pretty low, but I guess that's politics for you. I suppose she'll be attacked for working to help that same group later.

It's terrible for the "evil rich lady" narrative being used to put her below Tholen. Where exactly is Tholen's record on helping out the less privileged?

The attacks have really ramped up.

I guess Tholen's campaign is starting to worry, though she herself is probably relieved at the glimpse of November 6, when she may just be able to be free to do what she really wants and go back to her previous focus.

She lives quite well in Great Falls, I saw her on the road in that cute little convertible she has.
