Literally nobody but you crazy helicopter moms on pre-college forums gives a crap about rankings. Our kids are private school lifers, we have some pretty high net worth friends, literally not once in real life have I heard someone bring up those fake and dumb US News rankings. The same lame *ss rankings which claim you should turn down Ivies and Stanford for UChicago. I mean, come on. Get a clue.

Perfect weather to stay indoors and study for the hard majors that Michigan expertly provides. Exactly what I want my child to do when I’m forking out the big bucks. I have survived winters my entire life. Your “kiddo” will too.


It's not perfect weather, it's aggressively harsh and modern air conditioning and refrigeration means you don't have to live near it anymore. Look at the census, sweetie, nobody wants to live in the Rust Belt if they don't have to. If you offered 1,000 random American 12th graders USC vs. University of Michigan, over/under 950 choose USC.

It was #19 just a few years ago. That’s a considerable drop.

There's now a large community of African-Americans in LA with real power and money in the entertainment industry. They are showrunning, writing, producing, directing, cinematographers, etc. This really didn't exist even 15-20 years ago, when the writers/producers/directors/production were uniformly white and male. The industry has really undergone a revolution in terms of diverse voices that coincided with the rise of streaming services.

Even if she doesn’t want to go into entertainment, I would expect the opportunity to be closer to her sister and family will be a big appeal. As well as better weather.
