Are you sure? The way I see it, his texting things about he would just love to have coffee with her in the morning demonstrates that he has spent very little real life time with this woman. And now he is discovering that she betrayed him. My idealistic heart would like to think he regrets giving in to infatuation when it was clear that he had some kind of genuine love and regard for his wife, at least according to their lovey dovey photos and comments about each other(which yes, I realize can all be for show.... but they looked like they had a solid love to me).

Everyone is different but I can totally see his “love” in his messages (ok, yes, technically it is infatuation). For many people it is the best drug ever - and it really is not about the person who is the object of it, rather just a glitch in your brain chemistry that is so darn enjoyable while it lasts (and it never lasts). In a way I almost sympathize with him - if he did it just for sex that would indeed be extremely stupid, this way there are some redeeming qualities to his behavior.

I think he is more of a merchant type than a data type. I know online it goes hand in hand but his data is mainly purchasing patterns or am I missing something? I don’t think he compares to Facebook who should all have their lives thrown out for consumption as they have forced upon their users.

They track everything via cookies. What do you think Alexa is? It listens to your conversations and is compiling data on your habits.

Plus, AWS and cloud services are just basically massive data dumps. Further, Amazon is working with the intel community on their most sensitive cloud computing, communications, and data aggregation tools to spy on foreigners and Americans.

He’s up to his neck in Big Data; it’s Amazon’s future source of profits.

Yeah, it is by far the most fascinating aspect of this story: he, off all people, somehow thought that the Rule #1 or our times (Never send/text anything that you don’t want the whole world, including your children, to see. And it will be always available for anyone FOREVER).
Did he not care or thought that his money would make him immune to this? Incredible.
