New AA woman here. Well your question assumes we all do this. I don't do this but I've seen it happen before. I agreed to follow my husband's lead on corporal punishment. His parents never hit or spanked him and his mother is especially proud of that fact. I received spankings as a child but agreed to try it his way. Two children ages 10 and 12 - its worked just fine.

I don't. But I've seen this done. This seems to be more socio-economic than racial. I've seen white people in Pigtown do the same.

Interesting. Can't it just mean you fell in love with someone? That you can see past a skin color? Snobby and elitist to me means only driving expensive cars, or wearing only designer labels. Sorry, but I also find a lot of us who have pledged to have the "snobby, elitist, superior, and not so subtle need to separate" attitude. None of this applies to me.

You are misinterpreting me. I never said that all BW who marry WM are bourgeois. I only said that I know some who are and I don't associate with them. I have an acquaintance who has a white boyfriend and she is not this way at all.

I'm 17:20 and I agree. While I referenced the "brown paper bag" mindset as it pertains to black people, ALL races can be bourgeois.

Bourgeois to me has nothing to due with skin color. I see it as being snobby.
