Might be disengaged parents who don't care .
Doesn't sound like a great place

It would normalize and change by very fact of you moving there.
I mean if there are issues with teachers/admin/extracurriculars, those aren’t going to be solved overnight. But the school you’d be moved into isn’t the same as the school is today.
Well said. No one seems to be thinking about it this way and they should.

. She ran to both meetings with all her neighbors and cornered the SB members. Good for her for effective advocacy but yeah, I wouldn't invite her to my dinner party. I'm picturing a Kate Gosselin hair do.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:The thing I wish more parents would realize in these scenarios when seeing the potential for their kids to move to a “worse” school is that neighbors that your kids go to school with already, presumably if a similar SES, would also be at the school. Many of the boundaries in this County dont make sense unless you look at demographics...but no one wants to bring that up in public...plenty of neighborhoods being bused way to far so they can fill the numbers of each demographic...nothing to do with transportion at all.
The longest bus rides in the county are to stronger schools. Great Falls ES is far closer to Herndon then Langley but is bussed to Langley. Crossfield is closer to Skyview then Oakton but many parents want to stay at Oakton, even with the long bus ride. Crossfield is a bit different in that Skyview is likely to be a very good school but it will have a higher FARMs rate then Oakton currently does. Some RIO parents have been very clear that they don't want to attend Skyview because they see the McNair and Coates kids as being the "problem children" at Carson. Their words, not mine.

Why are you asking people to explain the maps to you?
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:What school gets a worse commute time to their high school in scenario 2? Anyone?
All of the Centreville kids switched from Centreville HS to Westfield get a much worse commute. The Chantilly HS areas they are moving to Westfield looks about equidistant but those areas will insist that Westfield is much farther and that they are Rooted in Chantilly.
How much further would it be? Mileage and commute time?
Again, this is something you can figure out for yourself. Pick a few addresses and map it out, if you won't take pp's assertion as fact. I'm not sure why you are asking people to do projects to you. How bizarre.
