Think that's only true for summer's NHSLS, especially since Hilgartner is now at GP and won't be able to multi-task. The fall NHSLS was always less well attended and its even going to be worse this coming fall with Larenceville, Haverford, Hill, Loomis, Taft and Brunswick all skipping to go to a new one up in NJ. Also, you've got similar events in Orlando, Atlanta, Dallas and Denver. So, more regionally focused.

Crazy because I’ve heard several college coaches including Danowski and Shay say they rely heavily on high school film while recruiting because there’s too much hero ball in club lacrosse.

What a naive and uninformed remark! COLLEGE COACHES pay NO attention to whether a student attends a public or RANDOM private high school? The real focus is on the club scene. The club team that your child is a part of is the ultimate key to college recruitment. Following that, sending them to one of the elite private schools specializing in lacrosse, as mentioned in the earlier post, would be the next best option.

It’s hard enough for the local public high schools to match up against the local private schools. College coaches know there’s no way they’d be able to compete with the top private schools in the country. Unless the public school player is in a club playing against players from St Antony’s, Haverford, Culver, Taft, Loomis, Malvern Prep, Lawrenceville, Boys Latin, Severn, Calvert Hall, McDonough in the summer. The likelihood of them getting recruited high D1 is unlikely.

I would say even getting recruited will be challenging, getting a scholarship is near impossible.

Is it? I could make the argument for maybe Maryland area where some of the public schools are powerhouses in lacrosse (for example Severna or Broadneck), but not for northern Virginia. Correlation is pretty easy to analyze. A good portion of the local Va kids that play club for non power house clubs (VLC, true, top caliber) are really down in rankings. The trend has been the last few years for a good majority of NOVA lax kids to 1 try to get on one the better clubs (NL, ML, DC Express, Hawks, etc) and 2 many of those kids and family are making the decision to send them to private

Lets just quickly look at some of the local clubs I mentioned:
Top Caliber 2027 Ranked #349
True Nova Black 2027 Ranked #164
True Nova Green 2027 Ranked #449
VLC Dico 2027 Ranked #108

These clubs based on rankings alone are not being put into top brackets and as such, have very limited visibility from college coaches. And these kids are not being seen at all from HS games. So unless these kids and families are hitting showcases hard and prospect camps, their chances of landing scholarships gets less and less.

In general, coaches are not going to watch PS games. If the player wants to play D1 lax, he needs to be heads and shoulders better than every other kid out there (assuming he doesn't play for a good club team). They just don't get enough looks. Most PS teams aren't very good and an above average player can score 10 points a night. But this doesn't mean they would be able to score that against quality teams in IAC/WCAC. It's too bad that lax in the DMV is dominated by privates, but if you desire to play D1 while attending PS - You must play on a good club team or impress during showcases.

It has been true for the last few seasons. Might be a few more like 1 or 2 public school players for D1 then once d3 starts picking up a bunch of PS kids will committ to CNU Mary Washington and Roanoake. I think public schools not playing NCAA rules hurts a little as well. Big difference
