Interfering with a press conference hosted by a Cabinet Secretary is NOT exercising oversight any more than Congressional Representatives demanding entry to ICE facilities is oversight.

As for unconstitutional, please point to the exact phrase in the Constitution that supports disrupting a press conference - and arguably engaging in disorderly conduct (a crime).

That's a really strange defense.

Indeed, it's the "don't you know who I am" defense. The FBI is trained to respond to and neutralize perceived threats. That's what they did here. He may have tried to identify himself as a U.S. Senator as be was being neutralized, but the entire situation could have been avoided if he had calmly and politely approached the FBI - with his Senate pin clearly visible - identified himself as a U.S. Senator, then determined how he could ask questions without being disruptive.

It would appear that his identity was verified after he was neutralized as a threat and removed from the vicinity of the protectee (Sec. Noem). He was then released.

I'm surprised that folks on this thread aren't aware that someone tried to assassinate President Trump twice - so potential threats to him and members of his administration are being taken VERY seriously. Some of you might claim that the Senator wasn't a threat, but this is no different than the Congressional Representatives showing up to ICE facilities and demanding to be let in to conduct oversight. Members of Congress can conduct their oversight through hearings and questioning witnesses. Sec. Noem has testified previously and will do so again.

Even if that is true, did Sec. Noem or her in-room security know he was attending? Did they know he was going to start shouting questions (at the very least, did he tell his escorts he was going to do that)? Is this normal behavior for a sitting U.S. Senator? Could he have called Sec. Noem's office and asked for a meeting to request that she clarify her remarks?

Senate oversight isn't conducted this way. He wanted to make a scene in front of the cameras. While he's trying to spin what happened, he should have handled things much differently than he did.

Oversight isn't conducted that way, correct. But no, he didn't want to make scene. He wanted to get answers from the DHS Secretary. About what the plan was and how she wanted to liberate LA from their elected government...

Oversight isn’t usually conducted this way, but this administration isn’t conducting anything the usual way either, including responding to legitimate oversight requests.
