I’m an independent. I find Dems less problematic at the moment, but both parties need moderation. Whoever speaks most effectively to the middle third of the country wins in ‘26 and ‘28. The perpetual, wild pendulum swings are certainly disruptive to domestic interests, but they are also undermining our global influence, which is not so easily switched back on. Why trust a country that flips so dramatically so quickly?

Why would we want Ukraine to continue in a war they can't win? Democrats don't want Trump to end that war because it would be a big win for him. He might even get the peace prize. Voters didn't vote for revenge but to right many of the wrongs of the Biden failures. Bush and Obama imposed quotas and Tariffs on the Chinese so this is nothing new.

Dems will force third world immigrants on vulnerable American communities just to make themselves feel virtuous. No-one cares about Haitians' skin color. But they do care about the fact that they are unskilled people from a failed country who practice voodoo. Ask the Dominicans how they feel about their Haitian neighbors. No. In this past election, people voted against the other side more so than for their own side. A lot of people voted for Trump because they were appalled by Democrats allowing millions of undocumented migrants to stream across the border and because they rejected the excesses of DEI policies. They weren't voting for tariffs or against Ukraine. And they certainly weren't voting for Elon Musk. I think there was an expectation that Trump II would be like Trump I, mostly a loud check on the excesses of progressives. I don't think there are many voters who voted specifically for the carnage and destruction that Republicans are now inflicting on the country. I think there are many who feel betrayed by Republicans, especially those who were voting on economic issues.

Democrats imagine that Republicans are as upset as they are about federal worker layoffs. They aren't. You're right, a lot of people voted for Trump because they were appalled by Democrats' policies on illegal immigration and DEI. Have Democrats adjusted those policies at all? No. It's going to be even harder for Democrats next time, because now, instead of campaigning to keep the status quo on open borders and affirmative action and DEI, they'll have to campaign on bringing these disliked policies BACK after they were cancelled by Republicans. It will be a tough sell.
