Resource teachers are the worst.
Actually instructional coaches are the worst. They justify their jobs by creating a huge amount of useless extra work for teachers and CT leads.
SPED department chairs are also another useless position....unless you have a strong experienced person who knows how best to support the team.
I'm sure there are some bad ones out there but I'm a SPED teacher and our department chair is worth her weight in gold. I think our entire department would have left a long time ago if not for her.

I’m convinced these positions exist as a carrot to dangle for teachers with 5+ years of experience with the county. “Stay with us and be great and you could have a cushier position”. So many great gen ed classroom teachers upgrade to resource positions, coaches,ESOL, and AAP resource to leave the classroom.
Maybe a better question is why people want out of gen ed classrooms and SPED....if you are a teacher you know the answer
Not as beholden to student test scores, not managing IEPs and accommodations, and not teaching all day and when they do it’s in small groups, all for the same pay. I can’t even be mad at teachers for doing it.

I am of the opinion that you shouldn't have resource teachers if you have a sub teaching a class because you have a vacancy. It makes absolutely NO sense.
You would be incorrect

I’ve seen his posts before, he more interested in becoming famous on social media. Besides for pushing his cart, what concrete methods is he using to support teachers. Is he reducing their workload? Eliminating meetings? Is he covering classes with no sub?
