Many of us disagree. It's what makes this forum more than a gossip thread.

I agree. It is one thing to co-parent and another to go on trips with your ex-spouse while your boyfriend stays behind. Miller must be very understanding and patient to essentially be number two behind Affleck.
My parents were divorced and they were very friendly and affectionate, but after they remarried, they did not go on trips together and leave their significant others at home.
This is a trip to drop their freshman off at college, though, not a vacation. It would be kind of weird for Miller to join. He doesn’t appear to have a “stepdad” relationship with these kids and they have their own dad, who clearly they’re close to. A college drop-off trip is really something best suited for the nuclear family. I think they’re doing right by their daughter on this one.
They went to Japan as a family - a family that supposedly doesn't exit anymore. While I am happy for the children and don't care for Miller/JLo that much, this goes way above "coparenting". Their significant others needed to be there... It was not just a drive to drop your kid at Yale.
A few pages ago somebody mentioned that planning of this trip might have been what broke Ben's marriage to JLo. While I don't think this is necessarily the case, I can see how it was very hurtful. You don't need to be a jealous psycho to see that these exes are too close.
The fact that Miller doesn't have a strong relationship with the children after six years also makes me think their dating will likely be over.
She and Miller have only been papped together a handful of times and they have been together like 6 years or something. I think they are very careful to keep their relationship out of the tabloids. I don't think we can make any judgements about his relationship with the kids.

Kudos to Garner for putting her children first and continuing to build family memories as a single unit with her ex!

I actually know a man who went bananas in his 40s, blew up his family, shacked up with a twenty something for a few years and then dated a bunch of fun gals for a decade or so…until finally coming back to the mother of his children. It was a process that took years, starting with continued separate living but more robust family life. They ultimately got back together after reconnecting as empty nesters and the ex-wife determining she still wanted him. I wonder if the same might happen someday with Ben and Garner?
Woman lacking in self-respect takes back adulterous narcissist in time to play nursemaid as his health to begins to fail. What a wonderful love story.

lol I have know a few couples like this and thought the same thing. It's lovely on the outside but when you think about it's a sad situation for the parent who gets stuck taking on more parenting responsibilities, while the other one acts like a fool for years. I've know 2 couples like that who coincidentally got back together after they become empty nesters. They had their fun and need support again 🙄 A tale old as time.
Does anyone have an idea why this happens? I don't think think it's a gender thing. At least it wasn't with the couples. The wife left in one pairing and the husband in the
