I loathe Trump and want to see him in jail, but I think that's perfectly fair. Remember, it's only the bond for the appeal that's been reduced, not the actual disgorgement he has to pay. He's probably going to lose his appeal and meanwhile, the enormous interest will keep climbing! Which means he will owe, when all is said and done, a STAGGERING SUM he will not be able to pay.

The game is always to delay, since he hopes to become President and freeze all these trials. But there is an extremely low probability that he will be elected, because his political extremism and cognitive decline on display aren't making him any friends outside of the MAGA base, which is insufficient to hoist him to power.

The actual sum he owes will be close to a billion by the time the appeal is done.

I really think he's going to get the $$ owed reduced. He's a master of the art of the deal.

He’s not the master of the art of the deal (that’s all smoke and mirrors), but I think today’s ruling is a bad omen that he will never be held accountable the way anyone else would. He can be corrupt through and through, embarrassingly ignorant, sloppy in the commission of his crimes, completely unrepentant, lie at every turn, fail to follow any of the court’s instructions, disrupt proceedings, have incompetent legal representation and STILL be accommodated. I just appreciate the fact that he’s been under tremendous stress the last few days, thinking his luck might be running out.

Agreed. It should be ZERO.
This has all been a farce. Letitia James is going to come out of this looking pretty damn bad. And, that is a good thing.
And, Engoron? He should be removed as a judge and probably disbarred. He is an embarrassment to the legal system.

Trump violated executive law 63(12).

No, he’s a master of finding loopholes and exploiting them.

That’s an interesting point. I didn’t realize that the interest keeps accruing while he appeals. If he were to pay in escrow the full amount today, would that stay the interest clock?

Tell you what, you tell the bank one number to get a loan on your house, and appeal the appraisal for the same house at half the price to your jurisidiction of domicile and see how that goes for you.
