I don't drive an SUV and rarely struggle for space in our car. Serious question for the SUV drivers here: why do you feel it's so much more convenient than a regular car?

I have 3 kids. I also have 2 parents. My parents don’t live with us but we like to be in the same car when they visit. I often carpool and have other kids in my car. A Prius wouldn’t work for our family. We need 3 rows.

I wouldn’t even know what other parents drive. I have a Tesla. A lot of people have SUVs. I don’t think they are giant SUVs. Some people have sedans or minivans. Does it even matter? I really don’t care what you drive.

If I bump into someone I know, we will chitchat.

I don’t shop at Aldi. Does it matter if we are parked in front of Whole Foods or wegmans?

This has been a thing for at least 15 years. The truth is that the big vehicles are very convenient and handy. If you're going to judge a person's whole personality/values around their vehicle, that's your problem. Different strokes for different folks doesn't mean that they're not friend material.

I'm a hypocrite because my parents saved money to buy a more fuel-efficient car. Right. No one was impressed with my car in my senior year of high school. Most had no idea it was hybrid. My parents made payments of $400 for a few years. Some people buy their kids a cheap car they can pay off right away and others make payments.

I didn't say I was cool I don't want to drive a car bigger than I need. No one is forcing anyone to buy a minivan just because you have kids doesn't mean you *"have to** have a minivan. The rest of the world understands that.
