+1

Funny I thought the same about Kalinda until she was run off.

+2. Both of them were more compelling than JM.

+3 Baranski is a treasure!

The entire cast stayed together until the end. No one tried to cause strife or drama. No one tried to pull ahead of the others to be the star of the show, demanding more money than the others. Typical Gen-Xer philosophy.

If you hate Friends, you're not a true GenXer.

Not the PP to whom you're responding, but....

You do get that the poster above is referring to the show, and not to the cast, right?

The cast can be lovely human beings and consummate professionals but still in a show that isn't particularly witty or smart, and which has not aged well. It's OK if someone else dislikes the show. I dislike the show (back in the day and now, too). But yes, I've heard that the cast were pretty classy regarding the work. Let's not conflate the cast with the characters they played....

annnnd if you are a 'real' gen Xer who wasn't banally racist you'd've watched living single and known that it is a much better show - and im not black and was raised in Potomac/Bethesda and listened to nirvana pearl jam so not some great connesuer (spelling?) of Black pop culture.

.

Wow. I wrote the stuff about not conflating the cast and the show on "Friends" and you...turned it into saying I'm somehow a racist for not mentioning a totally different show that wasn't the point of the post? Way to change the topic.

You have no idea what I do or don't watch. I loved "Living Single." I agree with you that it's better than "Friends" ever was.

Was I required to bring it into my comment that "Friends" is lame? I'm racist for not mentioning the show you want mentioned when I'm...dissing a totally different show? That's a great way devalue the term "racist."

I'm so glad your Potomac upbringing made you so woke, even if you're not a connoisseur of black pop culture. Now, if only your upbringing had also given you the ability to read with understanding and write while staying on topic.

I used to think this as well (actually worse) until last year when Covid shut everything down and I was constantly on youtube searching for things to watch and take my mind off the everyday grind.
I can't explain it well but everything about them is pretty addictive from their performances to the way they act with one another. Almost endearing. I don't understand Korean btw but still can laugh along watching their TV shows.

Agreed!! How she is the highest paid actress is beyond me (I mean, I know how, Marvel!, but it is so undeserved).

Did you see her as a young girl overcoming a tragic loss in the film Horse Whisperer? She was outstanding next to the likes of Robert Redford.

I really don't understand why she isn't taking those types of roles, with the potential to be another Meryl Streep rather than the Black Widow roles. She has years ahead of her as an actress. She just needs the roles that show her acting talent.

Bc she can’t act as an adult. Her acting as a child means nothing as an adult.

Marriage Story
Jojo Rabbit

She was excellent in both of those recent movies, to me, at least. Hey, this is an "opinions" thread, after all....Not the PP to whom you're responding, by the way.

I do think she's been wooden in a few other things but she also doesn't always choose her films well. When she does, it works.

NP. Disagree about Marriage Story. She was just OK. Nothing stands out about her performance . I didn't see the second film so I can't comment on that.

Here is my unpopular opinion: SJ is unattractive. I simply do not get what people see in her. She's not repulsive or anything, just not this sexy, beautiful being that everyone seems to proclaim. She's like the Ryan Gosling of actresses (yes, I don't find him attractive, either).

Well, I will agree with you on both of these! I think SJ is pretty. I don't find her stunning or gorgeous or really sexy. Don't get me started on Gosling. Really weak features and eyes that are totally crooked. Great body, but the face, no thanks.

I'm a lesbian and I couldn't disagree with you more.

Yes! He was gorgeous in A River Runs Through It. Not a huge fan otherwise.

I also don't think Bradley Cooper is very attractive.

I found BP such a pretty boy when he was young and not to my taste - but he is stunning in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.

There are few, if any, hotter than Brad Pitt in Legends of the Fall. Sweet mother of god. Give me Tristan any day.

NP. I guess I'm of the unpopular opinion that he's not that attractive. I've seen him in person a couple of decades ago and he looked like a lanky stoner. But that's why they call these unpopular opinions, apparently the majority find him gorgeous.

Living Single AND Girlfriends!

The best "friends-living-together/hanging-out-together" type sitcom of all time is New Girl.

You can fight me on it.

Loved it in my late teens/twenties, recently tried to rewatch it in advance of the reboot and wow it's terrible.

Weren't the main writers gay Jewish men? I never found the show relatable or anything to aspire to and I was the target demo for it in the 90s and early 00s. It was...cringey.

I agree and I gave it a try. If you've ever watched a transvestite or in many cases a transgender woman whereby their movemen,t and mannerisms are overly exaggerated. That what this showed conveyed. Every woman was a hop in the bed with anyone, and all had hot issues at a given time. Everything was way over the top and exaggerated.

I'll add to that - Friends was awful. I am a Seinfeld fan, although it did take me some time to appreciate it. Friends, for me, was unwatchtable.

Yes, yes, yes, yes!!!!!!!

I still remember the day I turned it on and it was "El Sol" (which I don't think it still is?) I was so, so confused. Had no idea that was coming.

Same! I am still bereft.
