My husband went to the store. He normally does the shopping, and does a great job. So I was surprised when he walked in with:

- 3 dozen eggs
- 25 pounds of rice
- 2 CASES of tuna fish
- one large box of hotpockets

We went to Costco in Frederick tonight to pick up our coronavirus partypack. There was almost nobody there, but those who were, were filling their carts with obv zombie apocalypse foodstuffs. We picked up everything we needed and followed the rule that we’d only buy stuff we will eat eventually anyway. We definitely picked up a few random frozen foods that we wouldn’t normally get, but overall, I felt like we stocked up for a few weeks off the grid without too much hassle.

People are stock piling water and house items in case of a quarantine
We don’t have to leave our homes to go out and get these items

Also, prepping in case people buy everything up
The preparation starts now

But why water if you have home filters?

What if something happens to the water supply, the electricity supply and/or the workers get too sick to go to work. These are obviously worst case scenarios, but that is what people are prepping for.

Y'all are crazy. This isnt ebola.

But who cares? Its cheap and easy to be overprepared. I have a huge basement, so my prepping doesn't affect the liveability of my home at all. And I didn't buy anything we won't use eventually. Its just time shifting the expense. How does that harm you again?

Bingo!

STORAGE SOLUTIONS

Brilliant solution for space strapped city dwellers

If you have a. car. you can always stash stuff in your car. Trunk or cabin. If it is not visible so wont attract thieves.
I would not keep food but maybe toilet paper?..

Another option, flat rollin container with lid that fits under the bed,, Target, walmart and Bed B and B.. and container store and amazon all have them.

Wait are you suggesting looters are coming for our toilet paper?

Well, people will break car windows in the city for a handful of change and a Sugar Ray cd, so I wouldn't be tempting anyone with my multipack of toilet paper.

I love you, PP. This is truthfully hilarious

?
In case it runs out. Not something our family really wants to be without, you know?

If it runs out you go to the store and get more. As a menstruating woman I keep tons of rolls around already. I definitely don’t feel the need to hoard any extra.

So don’t. No need to sh1t on others if they want to stock up.

Why the hell would toilet paper run out? You should already be stocked up on that anyway. I generally keep a months worth around. Why hoard it now?

I guess I could ask you the same then, why keep a months worth around as a general rule? What's the obsession?

I shop once a month and stock up on what I need in that one go. Anymore questions?

Is anyone else finding it harder than usual to get delivery slots on instacart and similar services? I checked a store this morning, which I can usually do same-day, and the earliest slot was tomorrow at 10 am.

It is much calmer ordeal then any given black Friday, when you could see people killing each others over the last jar of PB.

This doesnt. The unnecessary panic affects everyone--shortages of goods, crazy lines, stock prices, etc.
