Uniforms will be free IF they change them because club is in the first year of a 2 year cycle AND STJ has a relationship with NIKE.
I would assume that NEW players would have to buy the kit this year and next unless they shift over to the new uniforms this year.
No membership dues for STJ. Folks are just being ridiculous with this one.
The amount of misinformation on this site is astonishing.
Everything on this site is true.
When the sale of the club is announced AFTER people have paid their deposits FCV and The St James were bound by the terms of those contracts that were offered. That nothing THIS YEAR is not dramatically changing is not really being questioned nor is it being debated. But I'm sure by next spring you will begin to see things change.
Changing uniforms will be step one as the branding will need to be changed. It is more likely that current jerseys may simply get re screened if possible but new free uniforms are unlikely. Also, NEW uniforms are also unlikely as there is still likely a binding contract with Puma for the uniforms. New jerseys may be required if the St James really wants their branding implemented sooner than later but it won't be "free".
Next year prices will likely go up. There will also be several "packages" offered and encouraged throughout this year. Strength and conditioning offered exclusively through the St James at an additional fee. Futsal at the St James may be offered at additional fees. Several of these things may not be mandatory this year but they will be highly encouraged and parents will feel pressure to shell out the extra money for them.
As the St James has more time with the books and how the cycle goes they will find ways to add services at extra cost. Field-house rental cost will most certainly be passed on to the parents and the field house will likely be the training field for half the practices for the DA teams by the 2020-2021 season. The 2020-2021 season is also the last year on FCV's contract with Evergreen. The NPL teams will likely simply be moved to Evergreen in the DA's absence. Either way, paying the high rent at Evergreen AND the St James Field house will not be cheap and parents will foot the bill.
By 2021-2022 FCV St James will be almost exclusively a Fairfax based club. FCV United will no longer be large enough to get quality county field space and a likely drop in the younger age groups will make signing on with Evergreen to expensive to continue. By 2023 there will no longer be a Loudoun based FCV United as Loudoun Soccer runs them out of the county. Loudoun, VSA, ODFC, SYA and CYA will be the beneficiaries.
By 2024 Christian and Bobby will both likely move on if not sooner based on whatever contract they have with the St James. They are likely committed for a year or two in order to ensure rosters during the transition. This is the wild card though. They could in fact love working for TSJ but when companies buy other companies there is usually some kind of house cleaning done to the purchased company. The players are the revenue and the players follow the coaches so I would put my money on Bobby or Christian leaving on their terms and 5 years is an eternity in youth soccer.
So, to the larger point of prices not going up this year, this year was never the year the changes get implemented.
I would fully expect a "Town Hall" this coming February, and if the town hall is being held in a Fairfax High School or at the St James that is the first sign that Loudoun families are screwed.
