Exactly. Instead of having “select” players that play for free, WS should 100% be offering scholarships to those that are in FINANCIAL NEED.

WS isnt here to support you. You are here to support Spirit.

They have some very weak teams, but obviously they weren't just some joke club. That shows that this forum talks out of its butt and that even lowly little GFR may have a player or two in some age groups capable of competing at the next level.

You do realize those PWSI and FCV teams are B and C level teams for those clubs?

Yes, they smashed B teams. I didn't say the whole team should be moved over to DA, but smashing a B team does mean they aren't a crap club of no value. B teams feed into A teams. Results like that suggest there could always be a player or 2 that can play at the next level.

What is ODSC? B team? Isn't that where FCV DA's top 2 scorers came from?

Okay. That makes sense. PP is likely correct. GFR probably has a few kids in each age that could help WSVA. I don’t think they turn the tide of the program though.

Maybe, maybe not. It depends on the needs of the team. The 04 Spirit team needs a forward. If GFR 04 has one, that can change a lot. But I'm not saying GFR is the next hot thing in soccer. I was only showing that this forum is biased.

Yes, I meant the 06 ODSC girls are the scorers for FCV. They didn't come fron within FCV's program either. If Spirit can change some bad decision making started really by Torres and then turn around its image, they might pick up that 1-2 player from GFR, from ODSC, from an overlooked possibly quality player at other big clubs in the area, and so on.

Didn't one, if not both, come from Loudoun before that? I'm pretty sure one was a Loudoun Red player before she went to ODFC.

Entirely possible. Either way, they didn't get developed by FCV.

Development stops at U12?

Yep, that's what everyone is saying. That's exactly what the post said, 100%.

Everyone in Loudoun starts in Loudoun and stays until they realize they need better training.

Why does this matter? They’re at FCV now. End of story.

Matters quite a bit actually. Loudoun had been a feeder for FCV for years and was a well known and accepted pathway for elite girls. Spirit can't erase history and historically created perceptions.

If by Spirit, you mean me, I was to trying to erase anything. Relax; it's still early in the week. I don't know the girls personally. If they came from Loudoun, so be it. I wonder why they didn't come back to Loudoun now that it has ECNL, or why they left in the first place to ODFC.

The oversaturation of DA and ECNL clubs in NoVa will continue to make it tough for the VA Spirit. Unless they build some real partnerships with some feeder clubs and/or start offering something better than the alternatives (significantly lower costs, more scholarships, marketing to and targeting of high quality players that need financial aid, frequent clinics with the pros players, etc.) and start putting out long term vision and messaging, it will be an up hill battle.

All of this presumes that GFR kids/parents are even interested in playing DA or ECNL.

For sure. I would think that was obvious.
