umm.. this is what some of us have been explaining throughout the thread. some posters simply refused to listen and insist that she was docked a game merely because she dared challenge the umpire.

The article says they need to look into the sexism it does not say it does not exist.

djokovic is not particularly notable for his tantrums. if he is skating by anything, it's time between the points and injury timeouts/retirements earlier in his career.
as I already explained and you have that spelled out nicely in Navratilova' op-ed it's the cumulative effect of Serena's behavior that cost her the game. djokovic gets warnings for his tantrums, too - but then he is careful not to also break his racquet etc. Serena is the same btw - and if she thought she could
Have won the match no way would she litigate coaching warning all over again. but she knew she was going to lose so she didn't care enough to restrain herself. if the match were close no way would she behave like this.

So, help me out here... I just watched the video and obviously she was very upset yelling how she doesn't cheat, it's not fair...etc. Didn't her coach confessed about the game that he was coaching her? If so, she not only cheated, but also lied??

1) coached (by their own coaches' admission 2) broke their racquets AND 3) engaged in prolonged verbal abuse of the empire and carried it to the court (so it was not just limited to changeover, as navratilova pointed out).
please stop muddying the water. if serena merely abused the umpire she wouldn't have lost the game. if she merely broke her racquet she wouldn't have lost the game. if she only did two out of the 3 things, she should have merely lost a point. but SHE DID ALL THREE THINGS IN THE SAME MATCH. other players even when behaving obnoxiously don't usually do this which is why game penalty is rare.
