My son is trying out for Bethesda Soccer Club and we as a family are observing ramadan which means no eating from sunrise till sunset so we are wondering if rescheduling a tryout with this particular team is possible?

+100 We have had 2 kids in travel soccer, and other kids in other travel sports. We have seen the spectrum - both from where our kids are (top or bottom) and where the coaches are (treat evenly, favor the strongest, favor the politics - you name it). Some coaches are good at treating players fairly/equally and creating the right culture - with kids and parents. Kids can thrive, and not solely from a sports sense. It maybe rare, if reading these boards, but f you can find that environment, its a blessing. Knowing what I know now, I would do more due diligence on the club/coach for that. You can still end up with something that doesn't work - but it's worth a try.

BRYC has a head coach and then several assistants in many age groups. It works well because the head coach has a consistent training for the age groups and the assistants help with the groups and coaching during games. Our coach has several age groups and it makes it easy for girls to play up for games since they train with the older ages and know what is expected.

The 02 and 03 teams train together at the same time most often. They scrimmage versus each other as well. Their games and showcase are at the same location. Coaching is covered by coach, assistant or DOC. 04 will train just before on same days back to back with 02/03. Their games and showcases mirror 02 and 03. BYRC uses private busses for all teams traveling for any true away games. They stay at same hotel and have chaperones. It’s pretty feasible to have same coach for these three teams in this system.[/quote]

DD and a few friends are trying out for U9 and no one has heard anything yet. They will all go to the third tryout tonight.

A few U9G offers were made after the 1st tryout. A few more were made after the 2nd tryout.

Yes. But there were many fast kids that weren’t fast when everyone else got their legs at puberty. They were stunted from Middle school on. They also have horrible touch because they used to just bulldoze and dominate the “kick and run” ulittles.
