^^ This type of thing happens in all sorts of environments. College dorm rooms and rapes? Not exactly repressed environments. Penn State? Not a repressed environment. All sorts of homes where men who are not a girl's father have access to a young girl? Not repressed environments. No one has a monopoly on this.
The pp did not say it did not happen elsewhere.
Exactly. I didn't say that. I said it seems to happen MORE than it does in the general population (where it happens a lot--someone I know was a counselor at a sexual assault center for several years--the person had patients of all ages (toddlers to in their 80s), all socio economic backgrounds, etc. it's terrible and it happens a lot. It just seems to me that you hear even more stories about Catholic priests, making a vow of celibacy, and then spending years abusing kids than you do about the seemingly happily married Dad down the street who was permitted to date when he was 15, had sex with his wife before he married her and otherwise lives in a more sexually permissive environment. But maybe the data on this doesn't back me up. I don't know and I'm not going to dig it out (if it even exists).
