So just send them to Gaithersburg High School now-i’m sure they will do fine and graduate! I imagine Cosa’s for that school are granted easily since it’s not at capacity AND nobody actually ever asks to Cosa there.

Sorry, I forgot reason #101 - The BOE chose to sell the land to a developer for $$$$ (who conveniently offered campaign funding to the DCCC or other MD (D) group that will make sure it trickles down to the campaigns of the current or former BOE members (who are running for higher offices).


Wootton parents should just plan on MCPS doing what it wants to do, namely, sell in a few years and buy somewhere else after your kids are out of MCPS.

Reading the comments in this thread, DCUM wants to stick it to Wootton at the expense of Damascus, Magruder and Gaithersburg.

Makes no sense at all. Wootton get a brand new school and Magruder and Damascus kids have to move to the old Wootton building which will require millions to repair. The most reasonable approach is to use Crown as a holding school, repair Damascus then Magruder. Then in 2031 look at enrollment and think of how to repair Wootton.

It doesn't even have to be long term. The funding is really just based on enrollment towards the end of September:

There are a couple of rules related to it, where I think there is a spread of days where a student would still be eligible.

But more or less if a student isn't enrolled during that period would result them not getting funding for the student.

So maybe families can plan their two week vacations around that time period.

There is something to withdrawal/homeschool. MCPS hurts with lower enrollment since they lose $, and having Wootoon cluster withdraw in large enough numbers will get their attention.
