You could get rid of every civilian federal employee outside of social security, Medicare/Medicaid, and the Treasury department to handle the debt and you world STILL have a deficit. You can't balance the budget without cutting Medicare/Medicaid/social security or by raising revenue.

What about the “billions” (according to Trump) that the tariffs are bringing in? 🙄

Republicans need 7 more weeks to pass 12 appropiation bills, aka regular order... RAGE!

Democrats are not trying to fund healthcare for “illegals”. I know this is the MAGA talking point but, as usual, it is a lie.

The Dems are a lost party with no agenda and clearly not in touch with most Americans. By 2026 the cloture in the senate wont be an issue thanks in part to the Schumer shutdown.

This is the second time you used cloture. Bot??

If they’ve got such a great messaging machine, why do the polls show 17% more people blaming them for the shutdown?

And what’s the blame going to do? The GOP doesn’t care.

Nobody cares about being blamed for this one. That's a problem.

The GOP controls the White House, the House of Representatives and the Senate. If the government shuts down, it is not on the democrats. Heck, the GOP house members are not even in DC right now to pass anything.

This. They need to govern, they are holding almost all of the cards, but not all of them. Governing democratically includes the majority compromising a tiny bit to accommodate the minority.

Not after bailing Argentina out. So much for America first. Trump got scammed by Argentina.

Exactly. I’m sure Dems in their infinite lack of fight mode will save the day.

That is if Republicans even show up.

At least polling shows that most Americans will rightly blame the GOP for the shutdown.

Polling says most people will be blaming the White House or congressional Republicans for this shutdown.

“Polling”

You still read that swill?

Oh, do you have any contrary evidence to offer? Otherwise all you’ve got are your feelings.

It’s seems you have forgotten how wrong the polling was in 2024 and 2016.

Polling used to be more accurate, now it’s just a coping mechanism.

The polls in 2016 polls predicted Hilary getting 47% of the vote and Trump getting 43% of the vote.

Hilary ended up with 48% of the vote and Trump ended up with 46% of the vote. Trump won largely on outperforming the polls in 3 states, Michigan Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

In 2024, all polls were within the margin of error but results learned towards Trump's end of the margin of error.

In no case did we see 17% gaps or even 10% gaps.

Federal law prohibits the use of taxpayer dollars to provide medical coverage to undocumented individuals. That's the law.

So the right wing tripe is just that.

Nobody cares. Everyone will know that the GOP shut down the federal government. And no one will care. It won't affect the midterms one way or the other.

Anonymous wrote:Yet again another left-wing Democrat idea to claim they care about some random thing and cave to it. Meaning oh we care about free healthcare for everybody and then they'll just pay for it has nothing to do with the shutdown. It's just politics and trying to look like they are going to do something but they're worthless

Yeah, healthcare subsidies for Americans: bad.
$20 billion bailout for Argentina: good.
