MLSN1 (now MLS Homegrown) is composed by MLS academies plus MLS p2p clubs.
How MLS academies could remain BY if MLS1 (Homegrown) would go SY?
It doesn’t make sense.
MLS academies play MLS1, so if MLS1 goes SY then MLS academies also will go SY. It’s logical.
Did MLS1 or MLS2 announce that they would be doing anyhting other than BY?
No, I was just answering a previous comment that took that hypothesis as valid.
This is the frustrating thing about all the ECNL people. MLSN and GA haven't said anything about switching from BY to SY. At this point its becoming clear that they intend to stay BY. If they wanted to do something different the plans would have been announced.
All that's going to happen if MLSN + GA stay BY while ECNL changes to SY is that they wont play in each other's tournaments.
Also, there would be an incentive to create a youngers BY league.
Someone already leaked an email from GA office they are changing age groups but the GA board has not approved them to announce yet. It was also announced publicly to all GA directors at their meeting this summer.

Seems odd and exactly like the made up "So Cal" announcement from last year. At least this time the faker was smart enough to not define an announcement date.

There are teams that are ECNL/ECRL now in clubs switching to MLSN2 next year. They still don't have schedules. They still don't know if they'll even be able to play in the state cup tourney. They still don't know if they'll have to travel out of state and when.
And clubs don't know whether to or how they'll need to move kids up from their RCL teams to MLSN2 if RCL is SY and MLSN2 stays BY.
It's a mess, all because MLSN and MLSN2 won't announce whether they're sticking to BY or going SY. They could at least affirm they're sticking to BY if that's the case. It's radio silence.
By not saying anything they're saying BY
You are living in a fantasy world. Only downsides for them not switching and I coach at an MLSN club.
Fantasy world is assuming MLSN will switch from BY to SY when they've made no indication that this would occur.

And the sooner everybody realizes that the wheels on the teams will slowly start falling of in about Dec as players get a jump, the sooner everybody realizes the whole season matters even less than usual. Have to keep the band on the Titanic playing.Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Part of the problem is assuming people are arguing from a pro MLSN or pro ECNL standpoint. By not saying anything they're saying BY
Talk to your MLSN director, ours and most others are saying likely or definitely SY. How do you explain that? What does yours say?
This is basically the problem though. It's all word of mouth. Why is there nothing documented or posted online by any of the hundreds of MLSN2 clubs to just put this question to rest? Why would a club director say "likely" (assumes they're not certain).
I think people in the business are saying "likely" because they all understand it makes the most sense to change. There are no good reasons to stay BY for youth soccer.
There are good reasons, especially perhaps in the short-term to cater to any demand from players/families who have played their entire careers in the BY system and still do not want to have their teams disrupted.
The reason for the delay on both leagues is to not start the hysteria any sooner than it needs to happen. That’s the reason and it makes sense. Probably late Fall to announce
Nah. The reason for the delay is because they don’t know what they’re doing, they don’t know when they should drop the news, and it is easier to just delay and release crumbs to their clubs.
Your reasoning implies some empathy which isn’t actually there.
I’m not implying empathy. I’m implying the delay reduces the number of emails and questions from parents on whether their kid will still be able to play up next year etc. lots of headaches for clubs they prefer to delay.
