The border bill is less about reining in Biden, and more about tying Trump's hands if he gets elected. That is why it got so much support from Senate Republicans.

Why doesn’t Biden use 8USC1182 which is already in place?

Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or of any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

Well, I wasn’t wrong. This border bill is a joke. The “emergency authority” sunsets after 3 years, doesn’t even stop catch and release. There are already laws on the books that say asylum claims need to be adjudicated to the maximum extent possible within 180 days! And apparently migrants of nationalities that aren’t from Mexico or Canada aren’t even included in the counts that would activate the emergency authority!

“(ii) LIMITATION.—Aliens described
8 in subsection (a)(2)(C) from noncontiguous
9 countries shall not be included in calcu-
10 lating the sum of aliens encountered“

It also appears that credible fear screening is even more lenient

“(1) in clause (v), by striking ‘‘significant possi- bility’’ and inserting ‘‘reasonable possibility’’“

Here’s the Democrats’ trick: keep illegals here ahead of the ‘24 election, while pretending to try to fix the border by clamoring for “legislation” ahead of the election, when in fact the real problem is Biden’s failure to enforce the existing laws like Remain-in-Mexico. Don’t fall for it.

Trump is not blocking anything. This should be blocked by Republican Senators and Democratic Senators. Mike Lee posted about this. While it is supposed Lankford's bill.
