And that’s just the beginning. In fact, the title of this entire thread is an epic example of has lighting. It makes me sad the author even believes his own BS. I’m not sure this is making the point you think it is. While Griffin opposes the new bill which extends to grade 12, he supported the bill when it extended to grade 3, as did a surprising large majority of Floridians. DeSantis may be overreaching here currently but this does not equate to the R platform being wholly unpopular or out of touch. Honestly if Dems want to play that card, they should focus on abortion where the R position is much more unpopular.

We are! And yes, this is making exactly the point I think it is. Rs have the opportunity to make inroads with popular (if loathsome) policies - ones I despise but I can see that plenty of Americans like. But instead of doing that, they grab that bag and run on down the road into utter crazytown. See also: 6 week abortion bans. They could have gone to 15 weeks or even 12 weeks, and really activated Dem voters but probably not have alienated too many Republicans. But nope! Why do the hateful but acceptable, even popular, thing, when you can take it to 11.

Pro choice Republican here. He WOULD have alienated too many Republicans. I would love a pro choice candidate, but know it’s not realistic.
