Taylor Swift's twitter follower #'s: lost ~10k followers out of ~90Million. That's roughly 1/100th of 1% of her total followers. Though she seems to have been losing followers in the previous weeks. Don't follow her so I have no idea why.

Katy Perrys: lost ~5k followers out of 110Million. That's less than 1/200th of 1% of her total followers.

Like so many things, it depends on what one's definition of "significant numbers of followers" is. It's possible that Katy Perry will de-activate her Twitter account that's she's had for 13+ years and leave over that loss but the data seems to suggest that these mega stars will be able to handle losing 5 or 10k followers. And the people that unfollowed will likely be back anyway. Let's be honest here...
Katy Perry lost 200,000 followers, not 5,000.

She still has 110 million followers. In the grand scheme of things, that’s a blip on the radar.
Do you also think it’s nothing that Marjorie Taylor Greene picked up 95k followers?
As for Perry, Swift, etc., it is a dramatic swing for two days. The level of deactivations and new account creation was high enough that it got Twitters attention and they felt it was worth analyzing. So you can keep trying to minimize it, but it is still a sign that a lot of people are very uneasy about the idea of participating in a platform run by Musk and giving him access to their personal data.
A bunch of republicans joined due to the news of Elon taking over and wanting free speech. It makes sense to me. I think Tucker Carlson even came back.
Yes, because they think that Twitter will now let them engage in the kind of indecent, hateful behavior that wasn’t tolerated the past few years.
I mean, the awful, racist, misogynistic and violent tweets at Vijaya Gadde that started moments after Musk went after her yesterday tell us we need to know about what Twitter will be if Musk has his way.

Twitter’s top lawyer reassures staff, cries during meeting about Musk takeover
Vijaya Gadde, a key executive involved in decisions to remove former President Donald Trump and ban political advertising, expressed uncertainty about the future of the platform.
Gadde, who has worked at Twitter since 2011, is the key executive charged with overseeing Twitter’s trust and safety, legal and public policy functions. She is seen internally as Twitter’s “moral authority” and the executive tasked with handling sensitive issues like harassment and dangerous speech.
Gadde played a leading role in negotiating the deal between Twitter and Musk, according to one person familiar with the dynamics.

You truly know nothing about how business works. This entire musk saga has generated so much buzz. People who haven’t been interested in twitter ever are now checking out the platform. This is keeping things fresh. Twitter was in decline for quite a while now. If anything, this will boost Twitter up and keep it to stay more relevant.
Losing a few 100k bot accounts that never used the site to begin with don’t matter much in the long haul.
Twitter put out a statement that their analysis indicates they were not bot accounts, it was organic changes from real users deactivating their accounts.
If Twitter becoming another Parler is your idea of staying relevant, well, we will have to agree to disagree. But I certainly won’t be using it anymore if that’s where it goes.
Parler failed because the app platforms dropped them. Nasty behavior but expected from leftists.
False. Parler used bad technology and design, was repeatedly hacked with private user details accessed, and had a whole host of other major problems and red flags.

Elon Musk has made it clear that any illegal postings will not be tolerated. Goes without saying that any CP should be removed and IP logs turned over to law enforcement. The majority of this country thinks that this takeover is a good thing.
I have no idea why this a radical or right wing notion. The “liberals” who are so against such a doctrinaire answer about free speech are telling on themselves and alienating a large majority of this country. They shriek hysterically at their own political peril.
