Seems they were hoping Dearie would be skeptical of DOJ’s credibility after the whole Carter Page thing. They seem to have truly drunk their own koolaid on that one and don’t realize most people, including Dearie, don’t see it as the big deal they do.

It took quite the brain trust to come to the conclusion that a former FISC judge from Brooklyn was going to allow Trump to play fast and loose with national security information. Banking in his reputation as slow and deliberative didn’t seem to play out either.

I doubt she’s keen to have the 11th Curcuit rule for a second time that she’s abused her discretion. Dearie ran circles around the folloushness she helped Trump try to get away with. It’s an embarrassing lesson she’s not soon to forget. Bringing in a second retired judge to assist also h fold Dearie insulate himself from charges that he failed to act with impartiality and he gets to make Trump eat the costs. Master stroke.
