We had so much of Emily's backstory that I would really like an update - where has she landed professionally? And she's the only one that has rejoined her intact family who left before Gilead really became Gilead. I feel like devoting some time to that would be worth it. Like an episode or part of one with Clea Duvall trying to find Emily, did she know she was a Handmaid or not know anything?


I am confused about Emily? Is it because they don’t have Clea Duvall in this season? How come we don’t see whether she returned to her family and how it’s going now?



Emily gave us the update--they live together and share Oliver, but are not back to sharing a bedroom yet due to Emily's trauma. Prospects for a happy ending look good. Wasn't she working with Moira at the refugee center?


Fair enough, but I want more. And why is super smart scientist Emily working at a refugee center? Dumb.

Mark Tuello from "the American government." Hasn't been explained exactly who he is, but probably FBI or something like that.

There have definitely been suggestions that he and Serena had a thing, but I think that's unlikely. It would make him a serious dirtbag and call the entire case against Fred, not to mention Serena, into question.

Serena says her lawyer told her it makes her case more complicated, then they chat, and at the end of the scene he tells her that she likely has more influence over Fred now and if Serena can get Fred to cooperate more it could help them both, meaning Tuello could push for some leniency for Serena and get the intel he's seeking about Gilead.

And if there was a chance that Fred was not the father I can't think why Serena wouldn't have already made that clear. She wasn't even going to tell Fred about the baby, has refused to see him, etc.

I can't say for sure, but I think it's someone else.


I think it's someone else - either one of the new crop of Handmaids in Gilead or one of the women in the therapy group.

Isn't that old footage of Nick saying "it's impossible to get her out" with Hannah's pic? And same of Luke saying "we need to get her out"--wasn't he talking about June last season or the one before?

Good acting from Elisabeth Moss. To me she overacts and I find it annoying, but in this episode I felt like she played each scene perfectly. Also, I can’t fathom what it must feel like to leave Gilead knowing your child is still there. I think it must be painful beyond words.

Yes. They are definitely foils for each other.

I kind of wonder if we are being set up for June getting everything she wants (or think she wants) in regards to Serena and Fred - prison, baby taken, etc. with June eventually coming to the realization that she's inflicted the same misery that was inflicted on her.

I do think Fred and Serena are eventually "prisoner-swapped" back to Gilead, but possibly without their child.

I also think that someone on here hit the nail on the head with Nick being a double agent for the Americans.



Even if June heals to a point, some lasting damage is inevitable. I don't think she'd regret the proverbial book being thrown at the Waterfords, but think it's likely she'll have to face that she's forever changed and hardened by her trauma. That doesn't make her Serena.
