More than one rich student has described Ann Arbor as a "dump" to me; beneath them, full of dull and small-minded "peasants". To a globetrotting rich kid, it is boring, cold and in the middle of nowhere. If you grew up in some rural setting in northern Michigan, maybe Ann Arbor feels special, but rich kids have seen too much. There was a scandal about 10 years ago where rich sororities and fraternities full of international and out of state rich kids totally destroyed some northern Michigan ski resorts. Why? Again, they think Michigan is a "dump". The same kids would never destroy a resort in Vail, Aspen or Park City.

What's true is USC is a better school, it's also private, and it's in a far superior location. And she originally planned to attend USC. She only temp went to UMich because of that scandal and optics.

What if I told you that not everyone want to go to an Ivy? My daughter turned down Yale for University of Florida. She had zero interest in the Ivy type environment.

Probably all of the above. Madonna's daughter also transferred out of Michigan after 2 or 3 semesters.

Could she be really good at some sport like basketball and want a shot at a good team? (I saw her dad and Reggie White used to coach her at bball in 4th grade until parents complained ha.)

Both sisters attended expensive private schools, elder sister was already attending Harvard, parents couldn’t afford cost of attendance. Probably had their own student loans from ivies and law school. Haha, that would be the reason for us commoners but they are loaded so who knows. May be kid got a scholarship.

Have you seen the neighborhood surrounding UChicago? They have bank-level security entrances on all their dorm doors for a reason. Besides the Obamas mostly seem to reside in DC, Martha's Vineyard, and Hawaii.

She choose that before her father was elected President. There’s a good chance she wouldn’t have been accepted.

Her father was governor of Texas, Uncle of Florida, grandpa was president, father owned a baseball team, family had plenty of money and connections to get her into any college. She grew up in Texas and always wanted to attend UT with her friends.

They have close ties with Texas, Bush girls lived in Texas from birth to high school. Most of her friends went to UT with her, her uncle and cousins were alumni.
