Yeah, that should go over really well with the MAGA crowd when they can't get their food stamps or tax refunds.

Elites? Are you referring to federal employees? My coworkers make about 75k on average. Which isn’t peanut change but we don’t have any secretaries, cleaning people or new grads, which raise the average salaries because we don’t have lower waged people.

Democrats all voted for the wall in the past

Secure Fence Act, a 2006 political compromise on immigration. Signed by President Bush and supported by 90 Democratic members of Congress, it included funding for "two layers of reinforced fencing" plus "additional physical barriers" along roughly 700 miles of border from California to Texas.

Among the senators who backed it: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and current Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

How so? The areas without fencing are extremely remote. There are no roads out there, no houses, nothing but desert. Crossing it is very difficult. Border Patrol would benefit from helicopters and drones for those areas.

Not sure how I feel about this. Tax refunds for his base is the only thing giving me hope that this will end soon. If we open up agencies one at a time, my agency will be dead last! Salaries should come before tax refunds.

EPA? I’m with Interior and I was hoping they’d open agencies one by one. My bureau is well liked by Republicans.

I do not believe that agencies should be politicized though. The vast majority of my coworkers are apolitical. I’ve never heard politics being discussed

Get ready for a long shutdown... no wall, no open government.

Look at this map. Red States have a major problem:

Number of federal employees in agencies affected by the shutdown per 100,000 workers

Agree. They will keep the Smithsonian closed forever

Sorry. But I bet they open the Smithsonian before EPA...
