It's like with anything people do to lose weight - it's a tool to use to help you while you learn better habits. You learn how to control your portions, how much you really need to eat vs eating out of boredom/stress/etc.
But you "can" control them because you are taking speed that makes you not hungry. When you stop taking speed you will be hungry again like you were before ~ what will be different? Its not like "anything",.......exercise and diet works.
I lost almost 60 lbs on Qsymia. I stopped taking it when I lost about 45 lbs. I wasn't on the highest dose because I never wanted that to be such a crutch that I couldn't do without. I always thought of it as "the kick in the pants" to get me started.
1) No, the appetite did not return the same was as it was when I was 200 lbs. After months of eating less your body gets used to it. Your stomach shrinks.
2) Speed gives you a lot more energy, AT FIRST. For maybe the first two months I felt like I was like the energizer bunny. But then, you get used to it and it's not like that any more.
3) You never feel like you are not hungry on those pills. I felt hungry if I didn't eat. But it allowed me to choose a salad instead of a burger. The hunger is manageable instead of ravishing if that makes sense.
4) It gets you started with healthy eating habits and the energy gets you off the couch hopefully.
You may think all of that is achievable without the pills and you are right. But for so many of us, it would not and it did not happen until we got some help. I obviously don't regret it one bit.
My BP is lower, my blood work is now normal. I am in better shape than I was 15 years ago.
