Thanks for the recap! I honestly don't understand the attitudes of some on here regarding his "activism." This is DC! The whole point of this city is that most of us care about politics. I can just imagine the reaction of some of these folks if their own precious snowflakes were detained for, say, wearing a t-shirt for a Christian rock band.

Ahmed's father strikes me as a naive opportunist. The idea that he was the mastermind behind some elobarate scheme to catapult the family to fame and fortune by sending his son to school with the not bomb clock is absurd and borders on delusional. The man is a hardworking immigrant who started his path to the American dream by selling hotdogs on the streets of NYC. Given that he had the inclination to run for President of Sudan while living in Texas and got mixed up in the Terry Jones mess because he was looking for a way to take his family to Disney World, it's not all that surprising that he might try and find a way to leverage circumstances which arose due to the mishandling of the situation by local authorities in Irving. Shameless self-promotion is the Ametican Way. Just ask the Donald about his $10,000,000,000.

It is intellectually lazy to insinuate what you cannot accurately convey yourself. More often than not, it is a sign that the speaker is not really in control of their facts, that they vaguely recall something.

I'm inclined to look at everything surrounding an incident and see if there's any merit. I don't think it's an accident that the father is a very prominent activist and that Cair got involved so quickly. When you listen to the boy talk about 'the cause', etc, it stinks even more.

I totally agree. It's curious to me that many who are so vocally supportive of Ahmed become extremely defensive when inconsistencies are raised.

Those that are reactive don't want to see things that don't fit their 'everything is racism' views. A critical thinker is willing to look at ALL the information and keep an open mind regarding more.

A lot of folk are wondering why the school hasn't spoken out. That's something to really consider.
