using 'less' when it should be 'fewer'. In case you don't know, if you are referring to items that are counted individually, use fewer: chairs, m&ms, cookies, gallons, cups, dollars, pennies, legos, raindrops, snowflakes, people If you are referring to things that are not counted individually (a mass of something), use less: furniture, food, beer, money, rain, snow, crowds

a famous misuse of the word 'less': less calories, more filling.

And why be ashamed that you are no longer a teenager.

PP here. I say if you don't know me, call me ma'am-please! I think it's usually intended respectfully. It is not offensive to me, after all, that's what I am--a grown woman. It perplexes me why grown women would want to be called Miss. Who do they think they are kidding?

I like it. I think it means the person is laughing really hard. I'm tired of the "LOL".

I hate LOL too but why can't it just be "HAHAHA!"? Why does it need the "BWA" up front? It's ugly. It's like someone is vomiting.

Where I come from calling a grown woman 'Miss' is the equivalent of calling a black man 'Boy.'

Really? I like the occasional "Miss" when I'm called it. I hate being "ma'am" -ed, it happens all the time.

I once referred to a woman, in her 40s, as ma'am and she told me that unless a woman has a walker, I should call her miss.

Miss or ms?

"Do what?" When I'm talking to DH and he can't hear me he says "do-wha?" even if I'm not asking him to do anything. Ugh.
"I feel badly." Oh really? You're bad at feeling?

Okay as a chronic offender who regularly calls women who are beyond their teenaged years Ma'am, what would you like to be respectfully called by people who don't know your name or with whom you have not been introduced?

"I'm going to the store." Really? There is only one store in the world and that is where you will be?
