Where I come from calling a grown woman 'Miss' is the equivalent of calling a black man 'Boy.'
Really? I like the occasional "Miss" when I'm called it. I hate being "ma'am" -ed, it happens all the time.
I once referred to a woman, in her 40s, as ma'am and she told me that unless a woman has a walker, I should call her miss.
