Character of the victim would shed light on how he could act as an agressor
I'm a former public defender--The good news here--the victim's character CANNOT be introduced unless the prosecution "opens the door" and introduces it. The defendant's (Z's) character is absolutely open season in court if he tries to use self-defense, which it seems he will. The is still going to be a difficult case for the prosecution unfortunately. They have PROVE beyond a reasonable doubt that Z shot with the intent or likelihood to kill with out adequate provocation with no witnesses. It is not enough to show that certain scenarios were more "likely than not to have occurred" , as many have posited here. It is a very sad thing for the boy's family, but the case may be unprovable.
