Tenured positions are not safe from cuts. They can just eliminate the positions like they plan to do with HS SDTs.

But if those SDTs have tenure, doesn’t their contract ensure that they will be placed (“involuntary transfer”) in a teaching position somewhere in the county? HS SDTs are not being “fired “, right? Just relieved of the position?

There will 100% be more cuts next year.

They avoided it with the ES class size *decreases*, I mean. Although I expect there were a number of MS and HS positions lost due to enrollment drops and some of those teachers had to move to elementary.

Mentioning the budget next year will be difficult does not explicitly state that: EVEN MORE teachers are being cut. The PP just interpreted something, ran with it, and tried to claim it as fact.

I agree with you, but there is definitely a clear message from both the council and BOE that more is coming next year. I’m a support staff member whose position is in play - if it’s not cut this year, I think it may be next year. I very much hope classroom and special ed positions are not cut.

We don’t know yet. But the cuts happening this year are only a fraction of what’s to come for 2028.

And you know this how?
BOE mtg

When? Timestamp? We haven't heard anything like that.
I’m not looking that up for you. It’s in meeting when they start to talk about the buyouts.

Exactly. Because it didn't happen.
