His last albums aren’t selling because they’re less and less country - at a time country is swinging back to more tradition country and even folksy. His last blockbuster hit was 10 years ago. Also, modern country radio and fans age out their stars. He’s almost 60. He’s had a great run and he still does well on arena/amphitheater tours, especially in Canada and Australia. It will be interesting if the new show with Blake Shelton will find an audience.

He sold in his whole career about 17 million albums globally - while that’s a lot of albums, when you look at other artists who were selling albums at a time when people were actually buying albums, that’s not a lot.
For reference, if you’re at all up on the Bad Bunny Super Bowl thread happening now, Bad Bunny started seven years ago and has sold over 100 million albums.
I’m not bashing Keith Urban because hey, I’ve sold zero albums so good on him, but he’s been around a long time and to only have that number of album sales means he’s a moderate success.
Keith is just a country music artist, so there’s a limited pool of album buyers. It’s not an apples to apples comparison with Bad Bunny’s album sales since he’s a crossover artist who appeals to pop, rock, rap fans in both Spanish speaking, English speaking, and other countries.
Country artists aren’t ever as big as crossover artists—which is why Taylor Swift branched out to pop music.
Honestly, not trying to be rude, but you just have no idea what you are talking about. Country music is a huge genre and a big portion of the country buys it. Zach Bryan, a young guy who has really just started has already sold 30 million albums.
Carrie Underwood, a woman in country which has an even higher uphill climb, has sold 85 million albums. country albums are some of the best selling. For KU to be in this genre and to be in it so long it only hit 17 million he simply just not that successful.
Honestly, I am a country music fan.
Carrie Underwood is a crossover artist with pop hits.
Zach Bryan is an anomaly. A lot of his songs sound like the alternative music I listened to in college, and unsurprisingly he found fame with college and then high school students. He rode the college campus/college bar wave starting in southern areas before playing stadiums across the country. Again: anomaly.
Urban has never hit that level.
Regardless, Bad Bunny has a much wider global audience that transcends language.
Keith Urban is a well known musician and celebrity, with a reported net worth of 114 million dollars. Please stop with the, he " has never hit that level." It's ridiculous.
I realize he’s a well known country artist who became a celebrity by marrying Kidman, but he simply isn’t as widely known as Bad Bunny or Carrie Underwood. I doubt many tweens or teens or even college students know who Urban is. I’m certain hardly any people who aren’t country music fans and north of 40 know who he is (particularly minorities).
That doesn’t mean he isn’t successful. It just means he isn’t universally famous and never hit the level like some crossover artists.
ICYMI: Zach Bryan sold his catalog for north of $300M. Ask any college kid to name a ZB song and they can. You can’t say the same for Urban.
He's in a completely different generation that the people you are citing. He was at peak in the early 2000's so yes it makes sense younger fans won't know him as well but he is universally famous even to non country fans. He is a household name. His music is not even my genre but I knowat least three of his songs. That's fame....He also was on American idol which millions of people watched. My point is not that he is in the same league as Bryan or Underwood, perhaps he's not but that does not mean he does not have a significant level of fame. He does.

Add in conflict over her role in babygirl.
babygirl being the first crack as a theory is getting a little momentum, now "several sources" confirmed by PageSix.

You're all looking for zebras. Personally I think she has a type. Cruise and Urban kind of look the same if taken at the same age. I'm sure she married for love both times, but it's extremely hard to keep a marriage alive while prioritizing one's work and being in the spotlight and having a famous husband as well, who also is trying to prioritize his work!
Also, it's OK for a woman to prioritize her work!!!

Net worth so big in part because he married NK.
No that was his networth; $114 million. Hers was I think $350 million give or take, as reported by People, per their divorce docs
